![]() I defeated every mage once, and not much more than that (after getting out of the starting area at least, the opening of the game unfortunately does incentive this poorly paced style). ![]() I would recommend people not to engage with it as "Monster Hunter" like at all, as much as possible. it's exactly what I wanted, even if the package seemed a little different in the beginning. It has intricate level design, great weapons and build variety, awesome boss fights, tough as nails platforming. ![]() I think the patch notes indicate some great things on the horizon in regards to balancing and polishing it up a little bit more, but on the whole it's already an absolutely fantastic game. Well I finished the game, absolutely loved it. It's a herculean effort to build something like this. Opening arbitrarily locked doors in the environment due to how many mages you've killed doesn't feel like exploration, it just feels like. The mage hunts on paper are interesting, but after the first few times you do it it's rote and kind of awful with very little stakes (I mean, you can just die over and over and it's fine, refill all of your potions etc). I think you're right that it needed more time, but it's also just hideously designed from the get-go. Mind, I had decided to do multiplayer because I just finished an extremely frustrating boss encounter (the one that throws rocks). The second time I actually got into the game, but could never find the other player and eventually he died, the third I spawned in and immediately died and the final one was this glitch. The first time it just lagged out but the game took like 20 minutes to tell me. I tried, I think, 4 times to do some co-operative mission I had. It was kind of the cherry on top a really awful few hours with it. They just keep going and going while I have to roll, do one attack and then roll again because fucking windows to counter are so tiny. I'm only a few hours in but I'm thinking of shelving it and hoping it gets some balance patches so I can come back in a month or two.Įdit - also, I absolutely hate how enemies don't seem to have stamina limitations. The timing was extreme bullshit and it was not fun at all. I swear, I was fighting a mage earlier and it summoned a big lanky minion to fight me, and the fucker had perfect timing so when it whacked me I bounced off the ground and lay down, then as soon as I recovered and stood back up it hit me again before I had a chance to roll away. And I hate bosses who summon minions which seems to be the case here in every fight, and it seems like every big enemy can flit me around like a ping pong ball, sometimes sending me flying off a ledge to my death. I don't really like the mage hunts as they feel like a bunch of busywork when they could just be a perfectly fine boss battle.
